BDOA Fantasy Football
Welcome to BDOA Fantasy Football.
Weβre building this as more than just a one-season fantasy football league. BDOA Fantasy Football is a multi-year competition with three levels, promotion, relegation, league championships, prizes, and an overall BDOA National Champion.
Where you finish this season helps determine where you play next season.

2026 League Structure
The inaugural BDOA Fantasy Football season features 36 members divided into three 12-team leagues.
Tier 1 β Premier League
The highest level of BDOA Fantasy Football.
The winner of the Premier League becomes the:
BDOA Fantasy Football National Champion
Tier 2 β Championship League
The second level of BDOA Fantasy Football.
Teams compete for the Championship League Championship and the opportunity to earn promotion into the Premier League.
Tier 3 β National League
The third level of BDOA Fantasy Football.
Teams compete for the National League title and the opportunity to earn promotion into the Championship League.
How the Ranking System Works
The 2026 season establishes the starting point for the BDOA Fantasy Football league system.
Beginning with the 2027 season, league placement will be determined by performance from the 2026 year.
Every season, teams can:
Move Up, Stay in Their Current League or Move Down
Three teams will move between each level every year.
Promotion
Promotion is earned through the fantasy playoffs.
The top three playoff finishers from the Premier League and Championship League will move up one level for the following season.
Championship League β Premier League
The following three teams are promoted:
1st Place β League Champion
2nd Place β League Runner-Up
3rd Place β Third-Place Game Winner
All three will compete in the Premier League the following season.
National League β Championship League
The following three teams are promoted:
1st Place β League Champion
2nd Place β League Runner-Up
3rd Place β Third-Place Game Winner
All three will compete in the Championship League the following season.
The Third-Place Game Matters
Unlike a lot of fantasy leagues, our third-place matchup has something real on the line.
The two teams that lose in the semifinals will play for third place.
The winner earns the final promotion spot.
So even if you miss the championship game, you still have a chance to move up.
Relegation
Relegation is determined by regular-season standings.
The bottom three teams in the National League and Premier League will move down one level for the following season.
Premier League β Championship League
Regular-season finishes:
10th Place β Relegated
11th Place β Relegated
12th Place β Relegated
Championship League β National League
Regular-season finishes:
10th Place β Relegated
11th Place β Relegated
12th Place β Relegated
National League
There is currently no level below the National League.
Teams finishing 10th through 12th will remain in the National League for the following season.
As BDOA Fantasy Football grows, additional leagues or levels may eventually be added.
Why Relegation Uses Regular-Season Standings
Relegation is based on regular-season performance rather than consolation playoff results.
That means your entire season matters.
A team cannot finish near the bottom all year and avoid relegation because of one late-season consolation matchup.
The regular season determines who stays and who moves down.
Year-to-Year Movement
At the end of each season, the league system will look like this:

This keeps all three leagues connected.
That means every season has championship races, playoff races, promotion races and relegation battles.
Championships & Prizes
Every BDOA Fantasy Football league will crown its own champion.
League Champion Prizes
The winner of each BDOA Fantasy Football league will receive a prize and promotion.
That means we will award prizes to:
- Premier League Champion
- Championship League Champion
- National League Champion
Prizes may include BDOA merchandise, trophies, championship items, gift cards, special member items or other prizes.
Exact prizes may change from year to year and will be announced for each season.
The National League Champion will also receive recognition as the overall BDOA Fantasy Football National Champion for that year.
League Settings
All three leagues will use the same basic rules and scoring settings through ESPN Fantasy Football.
Keeping the settings consistent allows teams to move between leagues without having to learn a completely different format every season.
Scoring
BDOA Fantasy Football uses PPR scoring.
PPR β Point Per Reception
Players receive 1 fantasy point for every reception.
The league also includes:
- Quarterbacks
- Running Backs
- Wide Receivers
- Tight Ends
- Flex
- Defense/Special Teams
- Kickers
All three leagues will use the same scoring system.
Official ESPN scoring settings will govern scoring situations or categories not specifically addressed in the BDOA rules.
Rosters
Each team will use the same roster format.
In addition to the standard starting lineup, each team receives:
7 Bench Spots
Players on your bench can be used throughout the season as needed.
1 Injured Reserve Spot
Each team receives one IR spot for eligible injured players.
Eligibility for the IR position is determined by ESPN.
Playoffs
Each league will have a 6-team playoff.
At the end of the regular season, the top six teams qualify for the postseason.
#1 Seed
First-round BYE.
#2 Seed
First-round BYE.
Seeds #3β#6
Compete in the opening round of the playoffs.
The winners advance until two teams remain for the league championship.
Championship Game
The final two teams compete for the league championship.
Winner
League Champion
Receives the league championship prize.
If competing in the Premier or Championship League, the winner is also promoted.
Runner-Up
Finishes second.
If competing in the Premier or Championship League, the runner-up is also promoted.
Third-Place Game
The two semifinal losers compete for third place.
The winner officially finishes 3rd.
In the Premier and Championship leagues, that third-place finish earns the final promotion spot for the following season.
That gives the third-place game real meaning.
Regular-Season Standings Still Matter
Even after the playoffs begin, regular-season standings remain important.
Regular-season standings determine:
- Who makes the playoffs
- Playoff seeding
- First-round BYEs
- Who is relegated
Finishing 10th, 11th or 12th in the National or Premier League means relegation regardless of what happens in any consolation games.
What Happens If Someone Doesn’t Return?
BDOA Fantasy Football is intended to continue from year to year, but we understand that not every manager will return every season.
If a team does not return, BDOA may adjust promotion, relegation or league placement as necessary to maintain 12 teams per league.
Whenever possible, open positions will be filled based on the previous season’s results and the established league hierarchy.
New BDOA Fantasy Football players will generally enter at the lowest available level unless league size, openings or other circumstances require an adjustment.
Final league placement decisions will be made before each season begins.
Future Expansion
The current system consists of three leagues and 36 teams.
As BDOA Fantasy Football grows, additional leagues or divisions may be added.
For example, future expansion could create additional Championship-level leagues or entirely new tiers underneath the existing system.
The goal is to allow more BDOA members to participate without removing the meaning of earning your way toward the National League.
BDOA Fantasy Football History
Starting with the 2026 season, we plan to keep track of the history of BDOA Fantasy Football.
That can include:
- National Champions
- Premier League Champions
- Championship League Champions
- Promotions
- Relegations
- League records
- Previous standings
- Individual accomplishments
Over time, members will be able to look back at where they started, how they moved through the system and what they accomplished.
2026 Draft
The inaugural BDOA Fantasy Football draft will take place:
Saturday, August 29, 2026
5:00 PM Pacific
8:00 PM Eastern
All three leagues will draft through ESPN Fantasy Football.
League invitations and additional information will be sent directly to each participating member.
Commissioners
Each BDOA Fantasy Football league has its own commissioner.
Commissioners are responsible for helping manage their individual ESPN league, communicating with league members and making sure the official BDOA Fantasy Football rules are followed.
The overall BDOA Fantasy Football structure, promotion/relegation system and league-wide rules are managed by Beer Drinkers of America.
Rule Changes
BDOA Fantasy Football is something we plan to continue building and improving.
Rules, scoring settings, league sizes and other details may be adjusted between seasons as the competition grows.
Any major changes involving:
- Promotion
- Relegation
- League structure
- Playoffs
- Scoring
- Prizes
will be announced before the affected season begins.
Rules will not be changed in the middle of a season simply to benefit or disadvantage an individual team.
