About Beer Drinkers of America

Beer brings us together.
The people are what make it worth building.

No matter where you go, you’ll never have to drink alone.

Beer Drinkers of America is a national social organization that brings people together for the love of beer and beer culture.

The community was built to give beer drinkers more ways to meet people, get together and be part of something.

What started in Salem, Oregon in 2024 has grown to 4,000+ members across all 50 states, with local Chapters, events, games, competitions and members helping build what comes next.

Some people join for the card and community. Others show up to events, compete, build Chapters, join committees or take on leadership roles.

There isn’t one right way to be part of BDOA.

No matter where you go, you’ll never have to drink alone.

Why BDOA Exists

Going out for a beer is easy.

Finding a real community around it can be harder.

A lot of people enjoy beer, but that doesn’t automatically give you people to meet, things to do or a reason to get involved.

We wanted to change that.

Beer Drinkers of America exists to give people more ways to connect through:

  • Local Chapters
  • Meetups and events
  • Games, challenges and competitions
  • National and Chapter activities
  • Member connections
  • Committees and leadership opportunities
  • Traditions, records and recognition

BDOA isn’t about telling people how to enjoy beer.

It’s about giving people more reasons to get together because of it.

WHAT BDOA LOOKS LIKE TODAY

BDOA is one nationwide community, but members can participate in a lot of different ways.

LOCAL CHAPTERS

Chapters give members in one area a local home base for meetups, events, competitions and whatever else they want to build together.

A potential Chapter can begin with a founding group of five local members and work toward the 20-member requirement for official Chapter recognition.

FIND A CHAPTER

EVENTS & MEETUPS

Members and Chapters get together for brewery nights, sporting events, tournaments, bike rides, watch parties, trivia, charity projects, virtual meetups and sometimes just a few beers together.

Some activities are organized nationally.

Some are created by Chapters.

And some start because a few members simply decide:

“We’re grabbing beers Friday. Come hang out.”

GAMES & COMPETITIONS

BDOA members can participate in games, challenges and competitions throughout the year.

That includes things like Friday Funday, national challenges, Chapter competitions, tournaments, rankings, records, giveaways and prizes.

Some can be played from anywhere in the country. Others happen locally or at in-person events.

BDOA also recognizes winners through things like the National Championship Plaque.

THE BDOA MEMBER HUB — COMING SOON

We’re building the BDOA Member Hub to make it easier for members to find and connect with each other.

Members will be able to build profiles, find people by city and state, connect with their Chapter, message other members, join groups and follow activity from around BDOA.

The goal is simple:

Make it easier to find another BDOA member wherever you are.

COMMITTEES

Members who want to help build BDOA can also get involved through committees.

Beer Thinkers focuses on ideas, improvements and the member experience.

Pints for a Purpose focuses on charity, service and community projects.

You don’t need to run a Chapter or hold a leadership title to help.

OUR STORY

Beer Drinkers of America started in Salem, Oregon on July 24, 2024.

It started with a simple conversation:

Why aren’t there more fun things to do around beer?

The same few bars and the same routine were fine, but we thought there could be more.

More events.

More competitions.

More reasons to meet people.

More ways to represent where you’re from.

More ways to turn beer into something that actually brings people together.

What began as an idea between a few friends became Beer Drinkers of America.

We wanted to build an actual community with members, Chapters, events, competitions, traditions and opportunities for people across the country to participate.

Since then, BDOA has grown from its first members in Oregon to thousands of members across all 50 states. And we’re still building.

WHAT WE’RE BUILDING

The long-term goal is bigger than simply having members in every state.

We want BDOA to become a nationwide network where members can:

Find people near them.

Find something to do.

Build a local community.

Participate nationally.

Compete and represent where they’re from.

Help create what comes next.

That means continuing to build stronger Chapters, more events, better member connections, national competitions, the Member Hub, committees, traditions and partnerships with breweries, bars and other businesses.

BDOA should feel national when you want it to and local when you need it to.

Someone in Oregon, Michigan, West Virginia, South Carolina, California or anywhere else should still feel like they’re part of the same organization.

BUILT WITH MEMBERS

BDOA isn’t supposed to be something Headquarters builds while everyone else watches.

Members should have a hand in what this becomes.

That can mean starting a Chapter, suggesting an event, competing in a challenge, joining a committee, helping with a local meetup, taking on leadership or simply telling us what would make membership better.

Not everyone wants that level of involvement—and that’s completely fine.

Some people just want to join, carry the card and show up when something sounds fun. Others want to help build the organization.

There’s room for both.

A NOTE FROM HAYDEN

I started Beer Drinkers of America because I felt like there should be more fun ways for people to get together around beer.

You can always go to the same bar, sit at the same table and do the same thing every weekend.

There’s nothing wrong with that.

I just thought there could be more.

I started kicking ideas around with my brother, Member #002, and my buddy, Member #003.

We talked about events, competitions, Chapters, records, member cards and eventually the idea of building something nationwide.

At the beginning, I had no idea exactly what BDOA would become.

I still don’t think one person should decide that. I want the people who join BDOA to have real opportunities to help shape it in whatever way makes sense for them.

If you have an idea for an event, a competition, a Chapter activity or simply a better way of doing something, I want to hear it. The goal is to build something people are proud to say they’re part of.

Everyone deserves a seat at the bar.
