FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. What do I actually get with my membership?
Your membership gives you official BDOA member status, a membership card, founding member access, entry into BDOA competitions and challenges, the ability to join or start a Chapter, access to member events and socials, and the opportunity to represent your city or state in national rankings.
2. Why should I join instead of just going to a bar?
A bar gives you a place to drink. BDOA gives you an organized national club to be part of. Members can join Chapters, attend events, compete in challenges, represent their state, and help build a community that goes beyond one night out.
3. Can I join even if there is not a Chapter near me yet?
Yes. You can still become a member, participate in national challenges, represent your state, and help build interest in your area.
You can also start your own Chapter in your area with 20 members. Reach out to us to learn more.
4. Do I need to be 21 to join?
BDOA membership is for adults 21+. Some public, family-friendly events may include non-member guests depending on the venue, activity, and local rules. BDOA does not sell alcohol.
5. Do I have to drink beer?
No. BDOA is about beer culture and community. What you drink is up to you.
6. Do I have to attend every event?
No. Participate as much or as little as you want. Membership doesn’t expire based on attendance.
7. What are Chapters?
Chapters are local groups of 20+ members in a geographic area. They host meetups, events, and compete nationally.
8. What is the Championship Plaque?
The Championship Plaque is the highest national honor in BDOA. Winners of official national competitions earn their name on the plaque, representing both themselves and their Chapter.
9. How do you ship?
Membership cards are shipped via USPS in a stamped envelope (no tracking). Cards are printed every 3–4 days and typically arrive within 3–4 days after shipping. All other packages include tracking information.
