Pumpkin Carving & Painting Contest

Beer Drinkers of America is hosting our annual Pumpkin Carving & Painting Contest, giving BDOA members across the country a chance to compete from wherever they are.

Create your best pumpkin, submit your entry, and compete for Halloween bragging rights.

Contest Timeline

Entries Open: October 1–28, 2026
Entry Deadline: October 28 at 11:59 PM
Voting & Judging: October 29–31
Winners Announced: October 31 — Halloween

Contest Categories

There will be two separate categories:

1. Pumpkin Painting 🎨

Create your best painted, decorated, or artistically designed pumpkin.

2. Pumpkin Carving🎃

Show off your best carved pumpkin, from a classic jack-o’-lantern to a detailed or completely original design.

How to Enter

The contest is open to Beer Drinkers of America members.

Each participant may submit one entry in each category.

Your submission must include:

• Your name
• Your BDOA Chapter, if applicable
• Your category: Painting or Carving
• A clear photo of your completed pumpkin
• Your BDOA membership card visible in the photo

Entries must be submitted no later than October 28 at 11:59 PM.

Contest Rules

1. All entries must be the participant’s own original work.
2. Entries must be created for this year’s contest and submitted during the October 1–28 entry period.
3. Participants may enter both categories, but may only win one category.
4. Pumpkins may include paint, carving, accessories, lighting, and other physical decorative materials appropriate to the category.
5. The submitted pumpkin must physically exist.
6. AI-generated images, digitally created pumpkins, or digitally fabricated entries are not allowed.
7. Entries must be appropriate for a BDOA audience. Offensive, hateful, or otherwise inappropriate submissions may be removed or disqualified.

Judging

Judging and community voting will take place October 29–31.

Entries will be evaluated based on:

• Creativity & Originality
• Craftsmanship & Detail
• Halloween Spirit
• BDOA Spirit
• Overall Presentation

Judges may consider both the quality of the finished pumpkin and how well it is presented in the submitted photo.

Winners

One winner will be selected in each category:

🏆 Best Pumpkin Painting
🏆 Best Pumpkin Carving

Participants may enter both categories but cannot win both.

If the same participant receives the highest score in both categories, their higher-scoring entry will receive the award and the next eligible entry will receive the other category award.

Winners will be announced on Halloween — October 31.

Whether you make something terrifying, hilarious, BDOA-themed, or completely unexpected, we want to see it.
