Come Race With Us April 25th!

Beer Drinkers of America presents its first-ever Mario Kart Tournament on April 25, 2026 at 3:00 PM in Salem, Oregon at Ratchet Brewery.

This is a free, bracket-style elimination tournament open to all ages. Every participant will compete in four races per round, with advancement determined by overall placement across those four races.

Come compete to be the fastest racer and win the 1st place prize of $100 and a trophy!

Tournament Structure

The tournament will be played in heats of four (4) players per console.

Each heat consists of four (4) races. Points are cumulative across all four races within that heat. After the four races are completed, the top two players in total points advance to the next round.

If enough players and space allow, a losers bracket may also be organized.

The format repeats each round until the final heat.

The championship round will consist of four (4) races. The player with the highest total points in the final round will be crowned Tournament Champion.

The Finals will be played on a Nintendo Switch projected on the big screen.


Advancement Format

  • 4 players per heat
  • 4 races per heat
  • Points accumulate across all races
  • Top 2 players advance
  • Bottom 2 players are eliminated (losers bracket possible depending on turnout)
  • Format repeats each round
  • Final round consists of 4 races
  • Highest total points in the final round wins

Consoles & Game Versions

Tournament heats may be played across a mix of:

  • Nintendo Switch
  • Nintendo 64
  • Nintendo Wii

Heat assignments and console placement will be determined by the event organizer. Once a heat begins, the console and version will not be changed.

Players should be prepared to compete on any assigned version.


Official Race Settings

All tournament heats will follow standardized settings:

  • Engine Class: 150cc
  • Items: Normal
  • Tracks: Random
  • Teams: Off
  • Standard in-game scoring

No modifications to race settings will be allowed once tournament play begins.


Tiebreaker Rules

In the event of a tie in total points at the conclusion of a heat:

  1. The player with the higher finishing position in the final race of that heat advances.
  2. If still tied, a single-race tiebreaker will be conducted.
  3. The winner of the tiebreaker race advances.

All tiebreaker decisions are final.


Player Conduct & Event Expectations

To keep the tournament organized and fair:

  • Players must be present when their heat is called.
  • A short grace period (5 minutes) may be allowed. Failure to appear may result in disqualification.
  • No pausing once a race has started.
  • No controller switching during a heat.
  • No outside interference during races.
  • Disruptive behavior may result in removal from the event.
  • All rulings by the tournament organizer are final.

Players are responsible for listening for announcements and staying ready for their heat.


Championship Prize

  • Prize awarded to 1st Place: $100 and a trophy
  • No prize splitting
  • The final heat winner is the official Tournament Champion

Time Trial Challenge (Separate Competition)

In addition to the main bracket tournament, a Time Trial Challenge will run concurrently as a separate competition.

Time Trial Format

  • A designated course will be selected
  • Players may complete solo time trial attempts
  • Fastest recorded time wins
  • Standard time trial rules apply (no items)
  • The Time Trial does not impact tournament standings

This provides an additional opportunity to compete based purely on speed and precision.
