Below is a structured breakdown of each leadership position in Beer Drinkers of America (BDOA).

Each role includes an overview of the position and duties. Positions and duties may evolve over time.

Founder

The Founder serves as the visionary architect of BDOA, responsible for protecting the mission, culture, and long-term direction of the organization. The Founder safeguards brand integrity, oversees national growth strategy, and ensures that leadership remains aligned with BDOA’s core values and standards.

The Founder’s role includes the following but is not limited to:

  • Defines long-term national vision and strategic direction
  • Protects brand standards, culture, and organizational identity
  • Approves major structural or constitutional changes
  • Acts as national ambassador and public face of the organization

President

The President leads the organization’s execution strategy and oversees all officers and departments. The President translates the Founder’s vision into action and ensures performance across the organization.

The President’s role includes the following but is not limited to:

  • Oversees all national leadership roles
  • Sets annual national goals and performance benchmarks
  • Runs executive meetings and national briefings
  • Ensures departments operate efficiently and collaboratively
  • Approves national campaigns, competitions, and initiatives

Vice President

The Vice President supports the President and ensures operational alignment across departments. The Vice President focuses on internal leadership management and continuity, stepping in when the President is unavailable.

The Vice President’s role includes the following but is not limited to:

  • Assists President with organization oversight
  • Supervises national department heads
  • Tracks performance metrics and reporting
  • Steps in for President when necessary

Chapter Elected Official

The Elected Official represents the interests of Chapter leadership at the national level. The Official ensures that regional and Chapter-level feedback is communicated upward and that national decisions consider Chapter realities.

The Chapter Elected Official’s role includes the following but is not limited to:

  • Represents Chapter Presidents in national discussions
  • Communicates Chapter concerns and proposals
  • Votes on national matters
  • Ensures fair policy implementation across the organization
  • Acts as liaison between national and Chapter leadership

Member Elected Official

The Member Elected Official represents the general membership body. The Official ensures that the voices of the general membership are considered in national decisions.

The Member Elected Official’s role includes the following but is not limited to:

  • Advocates for general Members’ interests
  • Gathers feedback from general Members
  • Votes on major national initiatives
  • Ensures transparency between leadership and Members
  • Helps shape Member-focused programs and competitions

Secretary

The Secretary maintains organizational records, documentation, and communication archives. The role ensures structural organization and legal clarity.

The Secretary’s role includes the following but is not limited to:

  • Records meeting minutes and executive decisions
  • Maintains national documentation and archives
  • Oversees official communications documentation
  • Tracks policy updates and amendments
  • Ensures compliance with bylaws and procedures

Treasurer

The Treasurer oversees financial stewardship of BDOA at the national level. This role ensures fiscal responsibility, transparency, and sustainability.

The Treasurer’s role includes the following but is not limited to:

  • Manages national bank accounts and budgets
  • Oversees dues allocation and financial reporting
  • Prepares quarterly and annual financial summaries
  • Approves major expenditures

Operations Director

The Operations Director ensures systems, logistics, and infrastructure run smoothly across the organization. The role focuses on execution and operational efficiency.

The Operations Director’s role includes the following but is not limited to:

  • Oversees national systems and processes
  • Develops operational handbooks for Chapters
  • Coordinates logistics for national competitions
  • Ensures membership database accuracy

Communications Director

The Communications Director manages official messaging, internal updates, and public-facing announcements to maintain consistent brand voice.

The Communications Director’s role includes the following but is not limited to:

  • Oversees internal communication channels
  • Drafts national announcements and updates
  • Coordinates messaging across regions
  • Manages press releases and official statements
  • Ensures consistent tone and brand voice

Marketing Director

The Marketing Director drives growth, visibility, and brand awareness nationwide. This role focuses on recruitment and public presence.

The Marketing Director’s role includes the following but is not limited to:

  • Develops national marketing campaigns
  • Oversees social media growth strategy
  • Creates promotional materials for Chapters
  • Tracks engagement and growth metrics
  • Supports Chapter-level recruitment initiatives

Events Director

The Events Director designs and oversees national competitions, challenges, and flagship events.

The Events Director’s role includes the following but is not limited to:

  • Develops national competitions and challenges
  • Sets official event rules and guidelines
  • Coordinates Inter-Chapter competitions
  • Ensures fair scoring systems
  • Oversees national event calendar

Regional Director (West, Southwest, Midwest, Southeast, and Northeast)

Regional Directors oversee all chapters within their geographic territory. They act as the bridge between national leadership and Chapter presidents. A full breakdown of responsibilities and duties can be seen on the Regional Leadership Structure Page.

The Regional Director’s role includes the following but is not limited to:

  • Supervises Chapter presidents within region
  • Ensures Chapter compliance with national standards
  • Provides performance reports to national leadership
  • Supports new Chapter launches
  • Resolves regional disputes
  • Organizes regional competitions

Chapter President

The Chapter President leads their local Chapter and is responsible for recruitment, culture, and performance. The role directly shapes member experience.

The Chapter President’s role includes the following but is not limited to:

  • Leads local meetings and events
  • Recruits and retains Members
  • Coordinates participation in national competitions
  • Reports Chapter activity to Regional Director
  • Enforces national standards locally
  • Oversees Chapter officers

Chapter Vice President

The Chapter Vice President supports the Chapter President and oversees internal Chapter organization.

The Chapter Vice President’s role includes the following but is not limited to:

  • Assists Chapter President
  • Coordinates event logistics
  • Oversees Chapter participation tracking
  • Steps in when President is unavailable
  • Helps manage Member engagement

Chapter Treasurer

The Chapter Treasurer manages local Chapter finances and ensures transparency.

The Chapter Treasurer’s role includes the following but is not limited to:

  • Collects local dues
  • Manages Chapter event budgets
  • Reports financials to national Treasurer
  • Tracks Chapter expenditures
  • Ensures responsible financial practices

Members

Members form the foundation of Beer Drinkers of America. They participate in competitions, attend events, and represent the brand in their communities.

The Member’s role includes the following but is not limited to:

  • Participate in national and regional challenges
  • Attend local Chapter events
  • Represent BDOA values publicly
  • Contribute dues and engagement
  • Promote Chapter growth through referrals
